just a few more days

Just a few more days of my organizing spree(I know flylady doesn't like crash and burn spree's but this is what I have to do for now :) ) and I will be able to start on some really cool sewing projects! I'm so excited and cant wait!
I did however get to take a break from my www.flylady.com routine and post a new item in my shop www.1sweetpeaboutique.etsy.com .

I made this bag for a friend of mine. She had a really neat idea on the monogram part of it. Instead of traditional initials or first name, she used the first letter of their last name. That way the bag could be used with future children. I thought that was great!

I had been practicing my free hand monogramming technique for quite some time. You see I don't have a fancy embroidery machine, so I have to monogram by hand on a regular sewing machine. It takes alot of patience and practice. It is called free motion embroidery. There is a great page on it here http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Machine+Embroidery/Howtos/Free-Motion+Embroidery+Basics.htm . For me the embroidery hoop got in my way, so I don't use one. I just make sure that my fabric is interfaced with a thick fleece and that seems to help me guide and have lots of control over the fabric.
So now you know that with a little practice you can embroider with a regular sewing machine.
